Missaligned slide?

Hello guys, I recently got a SD9VE and I love it so far, I have shot about 500 rounds with no issues, except some bad aiming due to trigger pull, I was cleaning my gun and what not and I noticed that my slide is not aligned with the frame see pic imgur: the simple image sharer

is this normal for the SDs? anything that I could do to fix it? does it really matter?

Does it wiggle? Check it with the light off (it's a plastic frame, not unobtanium); you might just have some torque on the frame. If it's not hampering proper function, I wouldn't worry abot it too much.

Both of mine look like yours. It's pretty common with polymer frames. I wouldn't worry about it. The alignment of the frame rails and the slide is what matters.

I'm sorry, somebody had to be a smart aleck. We have both an SD and an SW 9VE in our family. They both look exactly like yours.

Linkinx; Very common, very minor cosmetic flaw with SD's. It affects nothing, other than being an aggravating visual. It comes from when the frames are curing after being molded, they tend to pull to the right(looking down the weapon back to front, as in aiming). I am not sure why, but S&W shouldn't let it happen. I get a heat gun, or strong hair dryer and pull the stress out of the polymer frame to line it back up. But that is not a trick for the layman to try, as if you destroy your frame, S&W will not fix it. So be forewarned, this is not an authorized fix.
I do wish S&W would take better steps to keep that from happening to SD's as it is very frustrating to look at. Even the much touted M&P pistols suffer from front frame droop, for the same reasons. It doesn't hurt anything, but it shouldn't be happening, either. Glock doesn't seem to suffer from it.

Mine looks like that too. Doesn't seem to affect reliability nor accuracy. 1400 rounds and the stock trigger has gotten NICE!! Enjoy your.

The frame is a molded thermo-plastic. Plastics warp, that why these guns have such generous clearances between the slide and plastic portion of the frame. If you look at more than a few you will see this is a quite common condition with the majority of "plastic-fantastic" pistols, regardless of maker. As long as it functions dependably don't worry about it.
