Saw a local shop had a nice Colt 4" blue Diamondback with Jay Scott grips no box or papers for sale. Saw it last night after they closed. Called this morning and already sold. Bluing had some muzzle wear but a solid 90% if not more.

The kicker
Sell price was $750

Darn it!

Just missed it.

That's a shame - how did you see it after they closed ? On line ? I would have been at the door ar opening …. But … been there done that and missed out many a time because I hesitated.

Depending on location, that's a $1500 to $2000 piece. More if 22, 2.5"and with box. Here's my small DB collection. Needs some nickel.

2.5" 38
2.5" 38
2.5" 38
4" 38
6" 22

I did a similar with a Colt Commander satin nickel 9mm. Circa 1970, original box and paperwork. Came into work as a trade in, I procrastinated and lost out. But as consolation a couple weeks later I got my,27-2.

Backstory

I saw it online while I was at work late in the day. I called next morning and it was sold. It was a .38.

I've got two Colts an early serial Commando and a 1968 Cobra that I carry from time to time

i'm seriously considering the new blue Python.

I think I've told this story before-

I went to a gun show right around 2010. Guy had a 4" .22 Diamondback, great condition, box, the works, for $600. I tried to take it for $550, but he held fast.

3 months later, same guy, same gun- for $750! Couldn't swallow my pride.

Sold the next net day. They bring a good bit more than that nowadays.

I don't recall the year of mfg but I had one with the royal blue finish in .38". I am guessing around 2010 timeframe that I paid $600.00 for.

I must say that the bluing was on a different level...the polishing...appearance/cosmetics...it was really art at that point. Double action was remarkable...

I believe I sold it right before the values started to climb. LOL
