Missing in action

Hi Gents, well a few weeks ago i decided to replace the front sight on my S&W 586-8. Everything was going along quite nicely untill it came time to re -insert the sight pin into the gun. I was doing this task on my back deck. As I grabbed the sight pin to re-insert it, i dropped the pin and it went between the slats of the deck never to be had again. Now, can I buy this pin or can I ask S&W for a replacement. I would gladly pay whatever it costs but where do I go to purchase this tiny little pin. Your suggestions and comments would be appreciated. Thanks Guys

Not sure where to get one, but in the meantime, if you have one of those thin rubber refrigerator magnets, poke a hole in a corner and tie a string to it. Slip it down between the slats and drag it around. Might get lucky. Grab a beer and pretend you're fishing!

Maybe try a drill bit. Dremel to length, a little Locktite and a dab of cold blue.

I bought one of those pins from Brownell's some time ago. i am not sure if they still have any.

A few years ago I requested a front sight pin from S&W to replace a missing pin on one of my Model 27-2s (ca. 1977). S&W sent me a replacement sight pin within a few days, no charge! Maybe you'll be lucky, too! Good luck.
