All the schematics for a S&W 32 long (1911-1943) that I can find have more parts than mine. If you would kindly use a Numrich schematic, for a "K" frame, (I don't know how to insert it)
you'll find I have no part no. 71,76,78,84, or 85. I'm told this is a "K" frame revolver from info on the S&W site. Can anyone give me information about this? I need to order parts and I'm confused.

There's nothing obviously missing from your gun. I suspect you're using the wrong schematic. I note that Numrich doesn't seem to have a drawing for an old .32 Hand Ejector.

You might need to look elsewhere. What parts do you think you need?

The only things I cannot definitely say are present are the bolt plunger and spring because of lighting. Otherwise it appears everything else is present.

The gun does appear to be a 3 1/4" barrel .32 Hand Ejector, which would be on the "I" frame, not K frame, though. With nothing in the photo from which to judge scale it is very difficult to tell an I frame from a K frame because they appear identical except for the physical size.

Numrich is the only site I can find a schematic. I believe I need the rebound slide spring because the trigger will not return and I don't know if they are all the same. I can't really identify my revolver because of a 30 year serial number combination. I do thank you for answering my post.

Until I can find a schematic I won't know, If it's an "I" frame I'm out of luck because I googled it with no findings. If you look at the rebound slide, there is no hole for a hammer block pin

The hammer block is located in the side plate. It's that long narrow thing just to the right of the hammer pin boss (operated by the hand). It may be lighting, but the cylinder stop spring & plunger appear to be missing-assuming it's a 5 screw. If not, just the cylinder stop spring.

I'd kind of expect a K frame rebound spring would work or could be trimmed to fit.

If you need it the rebound slide spring for the I frame is the same as for the current J frame of which there are many models, 30, 31, 32, 34, 36, 60, 640, 940 and on and on. Any after-market parts supplier can provide that spring. You can easily check for the cylinder stop spring and plunger, just push the cylinder stop down with your finger and see if there is spring tension that pushes it back up.

Thanks for all the information you have provided. The cylinder stop is working fine. May I pick your brain to see if you agree that a weak rebound spring would be the cause of the trigger not returning?

From my experience, unless the rebound spring was cut so short that it won't supply enough pressure to return the trigger, there probably isn't one there. They are tough little buggers, sometimes being a PITA to put back in. If there was one there, you should be able to see the coils thru the slide slot, resting against the stud. If there's not one in there, you should be able to pretty easily lift the back of the slide off of the stud.

trigger return spring

Possibly a good deep cleaning would solve your problem. Years ago I bought five I frame pistols from a Pawn Shop because they were "Broke". Deep cleaned them and each one functioned fine.

That's exactly what I did, and it is functioning perfectly now
