Missing trade mark

Hello,
I just bought a minty 29-2 and it doesn't have the S&W trade mark stamp on either side of the gun. Years ago I had a 8in. 29-2 and I can't remember if it had the stamp or not.
BTW, I tried to trade my 8 in. for this very same 4 in. over thirty years ago, he wouldn't make the trade because mine had been shot thousands of times and his was pretty much unfired.
(I wasn't going to lie about how many rounds I fired through it)
Thanks for any answers ya'll have about the missing stamp.
