Mississippi will go "Open Carry" July 1st

TN allows open carry but I don't recall ever seeing anyone open carry except in gun shops or gun shows. Some may open carry in restaurants, shopping centers, and so on but I've never seen them.

I don't anticipate ever open carrying but it's nice to know that if my concealment isn't as effective as I'd like I have some protection.

While I support the right to open carry (OC) it's not something I'd ever do for a variety of reasons. It seems to make the most sense when a concealed weapon is mistakenly revealed so the person who is carrying does not face arrest.

It's unusual to see someone OC where I live and it almost always results in a call to the police, not from me, when it is seen here.

It seems to be more accepted (and acceptable) in rural areas than in cities. If people want to OC, that's fine with me, but my reason for supporting it is the same as yours. It's a PITN to have to constantly worry that someone might spot my firearm or even the outline and police action might follow.

While uniformed police officers have good reason to open carry, civilians generally don't have those same reasons.
