Seems like I've been seeing quite a few nickel mod. 15-3 revolvers for sale at gunshows recently....has some agency turned loose of some nickel plated Model 15 revolvers in the not too distant past?
I ask because the above revolver is supposidly a police-trade...or so sayeth the previous owner.
I think that it could possibly be a police trade in but most departments usally either engrave an inventory control on them or in the case of larger departments have the initials of the department put on them. It could also be a trade in from a security company which may not have altered the revolver by engraving numbers on it.
It could also be a factory nickel model 15 that was owned by and individual as I sometimes see several revolvers of a certain model revolver appear in several gun shows in a row and it's just a random thing. When I wasn't looking for them I saw model 14-3 at every show I went to priced really reasonably. Then when I decided that I wanted one it took a year to find a decent one for the same price and I saw two at two different gun shows two weeks apart.
Yeh...I know...the 'police trade in' deal is a bit tenuous.
I own quite a collection of 'police trade' handguns...and only two have any departmental markings on them. Only one of the two is identifiable back to the particular agency(a 4046 with 'Caddo Sheriff's Office' on the frame).
I was just curious if any of the distributers were peddling nickel M15 revolvers. Seems as if at least two others showed up on the foums just recently.
