MOD. 31-1

I inherited this pistol and it seemed strange to me that it only has a 5 digit serial number starting with 784XX.
I have been looking for information and it seems that it should have more than 5 digits in the serial number.
Any idea on year of make?

Welcome to the Forum.

Is this the number stamped on the butt? That's where the SN is located. I assume it is marked MOD 31-1 on the frame behind the yoke.

Make sure you include any letter prefixes when you get the serial number off the butt. H784XX would be a valid number for a 31-1.
