Mod 37 no dash

I was walking out of the range today and there was an older man trying to sell a mod 37 to the dealer. The owner was not in to buy anything so I was able to help the man out.

Also came with a custom leather ankle holster.
Can anyone help with a born date... 1781XX

I think I did ok for 200.00

I'd put the date somewhere around 1960 +/-. It appears to be in great condition, but the stocks are later replacements. The originals had uncheckered diamonds around the escutcheons. If you look on the back side of the right grip panel, you should find a stamped number. That number is the serial number of the gun they were originally fitted to.

Mine is #252154 (It's in the safe and I'm not sure about the last 3 digits).
Mr. Jinks said it was 1962.

I use the Federal Nyclad standard pressure 125gr or 158gr. load for this Airweight.

Detroit, the grips should be diamond center checkered grips. They were discontinued about 1968. The grips yours has are post 1968.
It doesn't matter compared to the great price you got it for. If you want the correct grips for this era Mod 37 they can be found fairly easily if you look around.

I think if he was in, he would have! That price is about half price regardless of the newer grips.

He also have a Nazi marked P-38 that I could of got for another 150 but someone nickle plated it and I was out of cash ......

I gave him my # just in case he decides to part with anything else.

Nickel plated GI bringback pistols are atrocious! Forget that plating lowers the value, they look like crap. Even if well done, Lugers, P-38s, PPs, etal just don't look right that way, to me.
