I ran across one yesterday in one of the local shops. It was a 2" round butt blue and I'd guess it was about 98% condition. It was priced at $400 but he said I could have it for $330.00 + 7% sales tax. I was tempted but I already have a bucket full of J frames. I'll think about it for a couple of days and then it will be sold and I'll still have some money for something I want more. The shop also had a snubby 686 for $500.00 that I didn't even negotiate on because I already have one of those. I've got a friend looking for one so I called him and he said he was going there today to look at it. I don't know if he did. While there I also noticed a Walther P38 "bring back" with two mags and a soft holster. I called Jr., who wasn't far away and he got it for $600 OTD. I wonder if he still has that model 37. Hmmm.

x 2 on the never have enough j-frames comment.. Model 37 airweight Chiefs are a lot less common than the 36 & 60. Better jump on it (you know you want to).

I have a number of J frames but traded a very nice model 37 for a 4506 a few years back - although I never carried, or really even shot the 37 very much, and despite how fond I am of the 4506, I miss that little bugger:( and would buy another good conditioned well priced one in a heartbeat.

IIRC, I have ten J frames in .22, .22 magnum, .32 Long, .32 H&R magnum, and .38 special. I could never keep an air weight though, somebody always talked me out of them.

Run back and get that jewel!

Agreed with the wise man who said you can never have too many j frames.

That seems like a very good price to me. I just paid $360otd for mine and It won't go 98%

Just saw a pretty decent blue pinned airweight Chief for sale on armslist here for $425- offered $400 but it was already sold.

One of my former coworkers asked me about the KelTec P32 because one of his friends, a highway patrolman, carried one in his uniform shirt pocket as a backup (2nd backup?). When I allowed as that I had one, he immediately asked if I wanted to sell it.

Well, I'd fired it over my Chrony and had been particularly unimpressed, so I told him he could have it for $250.00 with 2 or 3 magazines, the soft case, a Fobus paddle holster, and a box of .32 ACP ammo.

He said he'd have to ask his wife. SHE said he'd have to sell something else before he could buy the KelTec. He comes back to me with a hangdog expression saying he couldn't find a home to buy the gun that he could live without. (I was thinking safe queen.) So, I tell him to bring it in, and we'd talk trade.

I was on patrol that weekend when he comes by the office to show me the unwanted trade material. No box. No paperwork. Not even a decent holster. He unwraps the poor thing and hands me a nickel-plated Model 37 (no dash) wearing Art Jewel oversized finger groove grips. He allows as how he didn't like stainless guns and would I need any "boot?"

I said no and handed him the box with the P32 and stuff in it. To be fair, I did ask him if he was sure. He was.

I sold the Art Jewel grips here for $45.00, and the nickel Model 37 with Hogue Bantam grip has ridden in my uniform cargo pocket ever since.

ECS,
Great story on your Nickel model 37.
Its funny how some people have certain preferences for one thing over another.
You made out like a bandit on that deal.
;)
