Mod 39 serial question

Hi all , looking for help dating mod 39 aluminum frame and backstrap.... any help would be appreciated! Thanks....sorry for some reason photo did not load clearly so serial # 87575

I'm guessing 1965 or so. I had a #60720 that dated to 1964. They made quite a few in that time frame as a lot of police forces were adapting to them.

From my list, I would say July, 1968. But a letter or SDR
would nail it. Looks like a nice gun.

Thanks for replying very much.... no letter prefix before the serial #. And only stamped as a 39 . No -2 could this be earlier?

I was issued #838xx in the IL state police academy in Sept. '68. It was "possibly" a turn-in from a retired trooper, so it "may" date to 1967. I've seen posts on here that say S&W didn't necessarily ship in numerical order.
