mod 60 serial date

Is there a serial number data base for model 60 S&W revolvers?

I am trying to find manufacture or ship date of a model 60, ser. # R18xxxx

It's dated between 1974 and 77. (R100000 - R190000). It should be a 60-1. An email to Smith and Wesson should give you a more definite date.

According to my data base and not having more of the serial number, I would guess the last half of 1976
