Mod. 64-3 Hammer Nose Question

I recently aquired a Mod. 64-3 in the box that looks new. After a careful inspection I discovered that there is no spring on the Hammer Nose (firing pin) like on my Mod.19, is it missing/broken or was that not needed on this mod?

I've ask a few S&W cranks at a gun show and no one knows if it needed one or not. Don't want to shoot if this is dangerous or going to cause any damage.

Would it be hard to install a spring if it is nessary, one guy thought is was hard to do and need a special tool to do it.

it's fine

It's fine, the spring in the hammer nose came in the 64-5 (i think) a few years later

I have a few 64-3 all without the spring, they shoot like a dream
