Mod 65 help please

I have a chance to buy a 65 for a pretty good price. Seller sent me a couple of pics and the serial no. looks to be BUH 56XX. Anyone have a ball park figure on the birth date, please?

a 65 ... BUH 56XX

June 1995. I think the -5 would of been current in that time frame. It's got the old style frame, forged hammer & trigger, stainless of course. Likely shipped with Uncle Mike neoprene grips. It's the classic LEO K-frame that everyone should have at least one in their collection.

From the pics he sent it doesn't have the lock. It has the neoprene grips but I would have thought one that new would have the lock. Should it?

Got off my butt and did a little research. Looks like it would be a pre-lock after all. I was thinking the lock came out way sooner thanks to the Clinton admin.

The lock transitioned in over a several years, but 2001 was when you started seeing it in full force across all model lines. It was due to Clinton, it just took awhile for the all manufacturing change orders and redesigns to catch up.
