Post serial number with XXX for last 3 numbers. SCSW shows a 37-2, bobbed hammer, DAO produced in 2005. Model 37 discontinued in 2006. Yours does not have Internal Lock, does it?
I own a Model 36 with factory bobbed hammer made in 1984, it is not DAO. Great carry.

The Model 37 is the alloy frame version of the Model 36 Chief's Special. They're both 5 shot J Frame revolvers. Don't let the alloy frame throw you off though. The cylinder and barrel are still steel. The barrel marking means it's not rated for +P (higher pressure than standard) ammo. However, there have been some on-off again "discussions" about whether it's safe to shoot +P ammo in a non-rated firearm. I believe the bobbed hammer is probably a prior owner's "custom" job. The SCSW (Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson) does mention a 37-2 produced in 2005 with a bobbed hammer. If yours is one of these later models it will probably have the internal lock above the cylinder latch.

I have a 37 I bought just 3 or 4 years ago new that came with factory bobbed DAO hammer, no lock and forgered hammer and trigger.
My dealer received them with a regular order and had both hammer and bobbed versions. I understand it was a run of guns made possibly for export or left over parts depending on who you listen too.
It's my usual carry gun and do shoot a limited number of plus Ps but reloads for most practice.

The reintroduced 37-2s were all the rage a few years ago. If yours has a two line registration mark on the right side just forward of the trigger, then yours is one of these. There will NOT be an internal lock . The barrel markings are hit or miss depending on what Smith's left over bin had in it. Check Gunbroker for values by searching for 37-2.

The 37-2 is the only revolver ever released from the factory with a bobbed hammer standard (and the lockwork is DA-only). There is no internal lock, and it was the only S&W revolver being sold at the time without it. When I bought mine in '05, the first thing I did was send an e-mail and a letter to S&W about whether or not the 37-2 was suitable for +P loads. Two reponses from two different people came back, both stating that the 37-2 was rated for +P and perfectly suitable for use with any factory-built .38 Special ammo.
The story is that these were overruns from a large foreign government order (I have heard Japan mentioned, but no confirmation).

not exactly the s&w logo is on the oppsite side of frame . the airweight logo is on the right side of the barrel

All of the 2005 +/- 37-2 Airweights I have seen have serial numbers in the DAA-DAC range. I suspect that yours is an older 37-2 that either was a special run for a PD with a bobbed hammer, or its an aftermarket bob job.

There was another run of these in 2009 (2008?). Not sure what the serial prefixes are for those.
2008. I bought one in the fall of 2008.
It has a bobbed hammer. The hammer and the trigger are forged steel, and it has no lock.
My serial number is DAC72XX.

The fired case that came with one of mine is dated 6/8/2005. The other is dated 7/25/2008. The markings are slightly different, but they are both DAO 37-2s w/o the IL and with forged hammers and triggers.

That fits with mine as well as it has the DAC serial and 9/05 spent case date.
I've been carrying mine in an ankle holster lately as I've had back problems and keeping weight off my belt. It's light enough I've checked a couple times to be sure it's there even.
