please help ,I need to id this gun mod 37-2 w/bobbed hammer says airweight 38spl ctg. on right side of barrel .what is the history& value of this weapon?

The reintroduced 37-2s were all the rage a few years ago. If yours has a two line registration mark on the right side just forward of the trigger, then yours is one of these. There will NOT be an internal lock . The barrel markings are hit or miss depending on what Smith's left over bin had in it. Check Gunbroker for values by searching for 37-2.

. The barrel marking means it's not rated for +P (higher pressure than standard) ammo. However, there have been some on-off again "discussions" about whether it's safe to shoot +P ammo in a non-rated firearm. I believe the bobbed hammer is probably a prior owner's "custom" job. The SCSW (Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson) does mention a 37-2 produced in 2005 with a bobbed hammer. If yours is one of these later models it will probably have the internal lock above the cylinder latch.
There was another run of these in 2009 (2008?). Not sure what the serial prefixes are for those.
