I think you were ahead of your time. Very nice and well thought out.

After taking his LFI-I and II, Massad Ayoob taught me a new way of looking at guns.
I've been wanting to pick up a 681 to put in a 696 cylinder and 3" tube. I'd also like to see a short tube 621...

I love my modified 396 NG, here it is with 2 other well used favorites.

That's too funny, I was just commenting on your post in the 315 Night Guard thread!

Can you expand on those thoughts for the ones that have never been to Ayoob's classes?

I have always been under the impression that LFI -1 is mostly classroom, covering legalities and liabilities.

Sure, here's from his site:
LFI-I
LFI-II
For most these will cover 99% of what a armed citizen will encounter, LFI-III adds the Sub-Machinegun to the mix.
After 25 or so years since I took LFI-I what stands out the most is terminal ballistics and situational awareness. I pay attention to the little things and what feedback my senses are giving, is this a wise place to park, especially if not returning to the car until dark, what a bullet will do to my target or unintentional targets in the event I miss, what to expect when thrust into a condition red situation, physiological and psychological attenuation of the senses (I.E. tunnel vision, everything in slow motion, etc.), Dealing with an ensconced defender (don't go house clearing, secure everyone as best you can, lock bedroom door and call police while maintaining cover with full view of rooms mean of egress).
I could go on with what Mas taught me, it was the best investment I have made for myself and my family. I have two gun-proofed children who know their way around a firearm and to get away and let a responsible adult know if a friend says "Look at what I have" and pulls out a gun for show and tell.
Hope this helps!
