Hello sirs, I was wondering if anyone could give me an approximate value for a 3 inch model 10. Thank you for your time.

Dash number, blue or nickel, condition, box and paperwork?

Recently Budsguns had some police guns for about 275-300, imported from Australia. A 10-8 recently sold in the classifieds for $450. They run a large range as you see.

Part of the price is where you are and the trends there. If you are in a local where there are Model 10s in every gun shop it is different than if you are where they are rare. Is it local or are you looking at an Internet sale?

The price that I would expect to pay here in Southern California might not be a good deal to you in the Midwest.

First off, price is always based on condition, and then location. And then you can factor in things like a 3" barrel.

It is blued, no box-papers, was sent back to the factory for a complete rebuild and refinish. Looks immaculate right now.

A refinish generally is money wasted unless the gun was really trashed. Gun "collectors" prefer original finish, even if well worn, called "honest wear". A refinish by the factory is generally desired more than a refinish by an unknown source. M10's are pretty common, though 3 inch barrels are not so.
I'll take a wild guess and say about $300. I bought this 10-8 for $300 about 2 years ago, it's original finish, with non-matching grips.

IIRC, I paid something like $210 for this one, not including shipping & FFL fees. You can see it has some dings but it is mechanically excellent. A great shooter. It was re-imported from Australia, hence the import mark.

I do not think I would let it go for $350 today, but whether anyone would pay that much is another question.

The person that has the one I am thinking about getting is asking $550 for it. I have a 3 inch 66, and 3 inch 586 L Comp, and am thinking real hard about this one. If only I could come across a 3 inch 19.......

Well, I'd have to want it REALLY bad to pay that much. I, too have a 3" 10 (10-8)....that I paid $300 for OTD, a short time ago. The finish was worn (obviously a duty gun)....but shot little, so mechanically excellent.

The refinish job probably wouldn't fool most real collectors....

Let me put it this way. If you paid $550 for that one, then decided to sell it shortly thereafter.....I'm betting you'd NEVER get that much for it. Maybe after keeping it for some years, but not likely right now. If it was in TRULY pristine (original) condition, rather than artificially so, that might be different.

I would not pay 550 for a refinished 3 inch Model 10. Shameless plug :o, I had a NIB 3 inch nickel M10 in the classifieds for sale with no takers at 625 shipped.

The Buds guns all seemed to have quite a bit of "honest wear" on them and they all sold both times within days. So if everyone was willing to buy a gun sight unseen for just under $300 and then get gaffed on a transfer fee at the LGS then I'm not sure what to say that says about the price. If the factory really made that gun new again then I wouldn't hesitate to offer $400 for it even if it's no longer original.

Bottom line, if you can afford it and you want it bad enough then buy it. Figure in the growing trend of it takes near disaster or death for these guns to come out of hiding these days.

Local store had a really nice LNIB three inch model 10.
Sold for 600.00
