Started looking around for "truck gun" Something not too pristine, just to keep handy when camping or sleeping at a rest stop on I-5. Can't seem to find any locally or at shows. Loads of 4" but no 2" Price check and thoughts on why they seem to have vanished as to for sale?

thanks,

Well, they don' make 'em no mo', and since more and more states finally adopted carry permit attitudes the limited supply is being used and hung onto.

Got one in square butt and one in round butt and no plans for them to go anywhere soon . . . .

Are you only interested in a 10-5? If the whole spectrum of 10s and M&Ps will do there is no shortage. If you limit your search to that specific model then it may be tough.

I happen to have a 2" 10-5 but it's not for sale.

I also picked up these M&Ps about a month apart 3years ago for $210 & $200 respectively.

Maybe 2 years ago I bought this 2" M64 for $245.

my question is: Why DON'T they make them anymore? They are 6 shots instead of 5. There is a huge market for CHLers these days, not to mention backupguns for police

The 2" guns have gotten harder to find. Compared to the 4" Model 10, which is probably the most common Smith ever, they are scarce. They are out there though. Just keep scratching around.

I found this one at a pawn shop. It was $389 but I wanted it real bad.

This one came from the same pawn shop about a year earlier. It isn't as nice but was cheaper. I carry it a good bit.

i purchased a 10-5 snub new in 1975 for $90.00...carried it on and off for years...when my son turned 21 recently,it became his first S&W...still shoots great...

I also have one here in Germany. 2" bbl. and square but with original box and matching stocks for 129 € bougth three years ago in a gun shop.

Condition: almost unused and no abused.

I looked for a long time and I finally found one near my home in a pawn shop for $450. it was nickel and not a mark on the finish. a square butt and pinned .so now im looking for a nice set of grips for it.

Here's one! Place your bid!

Edited, please - no more links to live auctions, it's been our rule for many years. For those interested, see GB Item=169226347
Thanks.....

Sorry, just thought I'd point the original poster towards one. It wasn't my auction, just something I searched on gunbroker.

Try reds trading post in Twin Falls, ID. They list beater ?police trade-ins? on GB. I also saw 3 this past weekend in Coeur d'Alene; one at Cabelas, and 2 at a gun shop. I have a fairly pristine 10-5 I bought late last year for $400 (maybe a little high). I'm now looking for a 2" M12 with a round butt - a little harder to find!

My 10-5 serial C999586,very close to the last of the C series,I put a nice set of old stags on her. I'll get pics up when my wife has time to help.
