I went to the LGS to buy a new Ruger or Smith revolver. I checked the used counter first. I couldn't leave this almost mint 10-5 by itself. Came home took the side plate off. I cleaned and lubed it. Can't wait until Monday to go shoot it!

Very nice find! That is beautiful!

My brother-in-law has the 10-5 that his mother bought new in 1967. Box paperwork, tools...everything, even the receipt. IIRC, it was around $129.
It is in mint condition. His mother and father shot half a box of old Super X (I think) 158gr LRN ammo, and no more! They kept it loaded as a HD weapon at first, then unloaded and put it away as the kids grew from toddlers to elementary age. He even has the 1/2 box of original ammo.

Not to hijack the thread, but I have a question.
He offered it to sell it to me for $300!!
I told him that it is worth more and I would give him a truly fair price.
So, what do all of you think? $450? $500? It is mint! It looks just like the OP's M10.

Thanks

EDIT:
Yikes! I just realized that I am hijacking this thread. I had several posts opened in different tabs and was reading a few. I thought that this one had several replies. I see that I am the first.
Sorry OP.

At first, I thought,"So what, another model 10 story",but when I saw the photo,I totally got the appeal-that's a really nice one,and would have tempted me too.

That looks a lot better than the 10-5 that I rescued earlier this week for $250. :o I knew it had been refinished, but what I didn't pick up on was that it was a custom refinish by Bubba with a can of gloss black spray paint and that the gorilla size rubber grips were put back on before the paint had cured.

Man that is a nice one. That gun would have been tagged at $450.00 or higher at my favorite gun shop. And it would have been gone in a day or two.

There was a time when I thought the Model 10 was about the most boring thing in the world. Then I learned to appreciate the elegance of simplicity. It's about as close to "everymans" gun as I've ever seen.

I used to own a half dozen of them. Today, I'm down to just one, a rather ratty 10-7. I think if I ever got rid of all but one, it would be the one I'd keep.

I'm having the most difficult time uploading photos to this site any other advice without using photo bucket/Users/Jayson/Pictures/iPhoto Library.photolibrary/Masters/2014/12/16/20141216-205329/IMG_2075.JPG

I go to advanced and then scroll down to click on manage attachments.
But I don't use photobucket.
