I saw this revolver on armslist. And don’t know much about it. It’s a S&W model 10-5 serial is D449316 which dates it to 1972-73. What I’m the most curious about is that it’s stamped CAI Georgia on it. So that means that it was imported. I’m curious as to where it was imported from. Is there a way to check that? Thanks. He wants $325 for it.

Have you found any other marks?

Other marks may tell you where the gun lived. For example, many guns that lived in Jordan we’re stamped JP xxx in front of the trigger guard (turn the gun upside down to see it).

Unless there are other stamps, such as government proof houses, police stamps, etc., it may be tough determining where it's been. Century Arms has been the largest importer of surplus arms in the US, I'd say, for the last 30 or so years, and importers are usually tight-lipped about sources. I have read online that the large lot of these Model 10 revolvers that came in around 2016-2017 have come from France, Malaysia, Spain, etc., but then I haven't really researched the topic.

If you like the variation of the gun and it's condition, I'd say buy it. In today's market $325 doesn't seem like a lot. On the other hand, they made a ton of them and .38spl revolvers aren't exactly hot sellers in a regular market, which this is not, so it could be that you can find a better one, or a variation more to your liking, in the future for the same or less money.

Good luck!

For 325 youcan't really go wrong in today's market. I can't really see the pica very well on my phone, but if it's tight in the action department, I'd get it.

I have a 10-2 that has the CAI re-import stamping, condition is a used duty revolver. I gave 300 for mine, and a very good shooter. I changed the beat up grip panels and put a set of Hogue grips on and it feels much better in the hand. You can't beat the price.
