Model 10-5 Value

Another valuation question. I've got a 1967 Model 10-5 with 6" pencil barrel, LNIB with original paperwork but no manual, only the cleaning brush, no other tools. What's it worth retail here in mid-Atlantic? Trade-in value? One dealer offered only around $250, which seems low to me, but I know Model 10s are everywhere. Thanks.

Okay, I'll bite. As a trade in, it's worth twice that much. To sell it outright? Same.

It's value is a lot more then your dealer offered and is closer to $300 to $350 and maybe the right buyer would even go as far as $400 but that would be tops. Dealers and Pawn shops want to make a profit so they will almost always low ball your trade gun and often they want to make money on both ends of the deal. I mean they low ball you on your gun but then want top dollar for theirs.

The best way is to sell in your gun in classified up here to a member and then take the cash with you to buy what you want because cash is king and gets the best deals.

Without taking a position of either defending or attacking dealers and their ways, I would say what your dealer offered you is about what any dealer would offer. It may actually be a little generous.

I agree, more than likely you may come very close to what it is worth by selling to a member and both of you could be happy.

Are the grips numbered to the gun? If memory serves me the gun could be in the period where diamond grips were being phased out. Are they by any chance diamonds? I am sure someone will jump in and confirm my suspicion.
