Looking for a quick value on this 10-7, which I found on an out-of-state consignment website. This is all the information that I have on it, they are asking $525.

"This is a Smith & Wesson Model 10-7, 4 inch barrel, Blue Steel, Square Butt frame .38 Special 6 shot revolver. This revolver appears to be unfired except for testing at factory. It is in the box with papers, cleaning rod and bore brush. This revolver was manufactured 1977."

Thank you.

Are the 10-7s uncommon or in some way special or desirable?
Hardly ever see them.
Do have one in the safe.

No. They were made from 1977 through 1987, and S&W cranked them out by the thousands. Very common, although maybe slightly less common than the predecessor Model 10-5. It's just the standard M&P from that period. Good guns, but not particularly "special." "Desirable," yes, if you like fixed sight K frame revolvers. Nothing wrong with that!

Yours has the less common 6" barrel, so it is sort of neat to have.

That seems reasonable if the condition is as described, especially considering you will get the box, papers and tools. Actually, I'm surprised they aren't asking more.
