Spotted a Model 10-5 on Joe Salter today. It had a 5" tapered barrel, grip adapter, lanyard and flap holster. According to the description it was rated about 85% and not RCMP issued (although set up in the same way, lanyard etc). He was asking $595. With all due respect for Joe Salter isn't $595 a lot to ask for this revolver? I would think $300 would be more in line with the market but maybe that's just me. Thanks.

I looked at the 10-5.I did not see a lanyard.
The reason I looked was to see the proper lanyard.

I paid $220 last year for a 10-5 5" tapered
barrel just like the Salter-listed revolver, only not
Canadian. I put a Packmeyr grip adapter on it, and
found a St. Louis made Moose brand holster that fits
5". Mine also has the lanyard ring.

Anyone have a photo of a American civilian lanyard
on a similar S&W?

Thanks

Mark

Joe Salter is a great guy, I've bought a lot from him over the years but once in a while I see how he prices some things and I don't get it.

Joe salter is a neighbor here in Canada and a close freind for , over 30 years, if he is advertising a gun at a price he is getting that price.

Two years ago I paid $495 for an unfired 10-5 with the 5" pencil barrel, with box & docs. I probably paid too much, but I wanted it. Have not seen another like it since. Regards 18DAI.

Maybe it's that $150.00 Tyler grip adapter.:D

I agree. Though I don't know Mr. Salter anyone would be foolish not to squeeze every dime they could out of the T-grip.
If the grip isn't a dealbreaker I'd look for a cheaper model elsewhere as they are certainly available.

I picked up a model 10-5 unfired (no box or docs) for $400 two months ago. 5" tapered bbl. Still has a #28 sticker on left grip panel. Beautifull blue on this one. Part of a 4 gun deal. Old workhorse of the Smith stable. I don't know of, or anything about Mr. Salter though.

Bill

I couldn't begin to estimate the value of this gun but I do know that the value of anything is in the eye of the buyer. What's a high price to you might be fair to me, depending on how much I valued it.

model 10-5 4inch

SO WHAT DO YOU THINK A NIB MODEL 10-5 4INCH .38 IS WORTH WITH ALL THE PAPERS MADE IN 1977?

Joe usually prices modern guns about $200 over market value. If he doesn't get it, he'll negotiate after about six months or so. I guess it just depends on how bad you want it, and how deep your pockets are.
