Model 10 nickel no-dash

Hi guys new member here. Have been enjoying this site for a couple years and finally joined.
I want to get some input on a gun it is a Model 10 Nickel no-dash with original box. Looking for year and estimated value please and any comments. If you look at the bottom of the box it has the original price penciled in at $58.55.

Nice piece. Based on my extensive list, the estimated ship date would be late 1960 or early 1961. But you never know for sure without a letter, since shipping was not in serial order.

Neat that it still has the silver/grey box. Very cool.

Welcome to the Forum from Virginia. That is a nice piece to come across especially being what collectors call "a no dash". The Model number stamping began in 1957 and any engineering changes were stamped as "-1, -2, etc.

Mine is also a Model 10 no dash and it is also nickel. Mine has a 5" barrel that is tapered. Mine came to me for $600 earlier this year, but without the original box, which I would say adds at least $60 to $80 to "value". Check your right grip panel for the original serial number stamped into it.

As to ship date, my Model 10 no dash is serial number C 451725 and it shipped in April 1959 per Roy Jinks, the S&W factory Historian.

Unfortunately all the indoor ranges except 1 have closed around here, and the one that is open does not allow lead bullets so I haven't been able to get my Model 10 out for exercise. It really likes 158 gr LRN (Lead Round Nose) ammo.

Let us know how your gun shoots and with what ammo. The Model 10 is one of the most iconic Smith & Wesson revolvers there is.
