Model 10 (No Dash)

I was looking at a shooter Model 10 yesterday. The seller wanted a fair price for it by today's standards. I didn't write the S/N down, but anybody got a ballpark idea when it might have been made? No collector value, just curious. I'm guessing early 60's maybe?

I'm thinking Mama will like it for the range with wadcutters.

Well, assuming that it is actually a model-marked 10, not a "pre-10," it was made after 1956. So some time between 1957 and yesterday afternoon would be about right.

Well, that's why I put in the title that it's a Model 10 (no dash). I thought that might help narrow it down a bit, but I guess not.

I put on layaway today. It's a four screw, in nickle, 4" barrel.

Roughly 1957 to 1959, and somewhere in the C 300-400000 SN range I think.

You are correct sir. S/N is C463xxx.

I was gonna ask about it being a four screw but you beat me to it. I love K frame M&P's. I started my LEO career in 1969 with a 10-3. I wish I had kept it but have bought several more since then. They're plentiful, they're cheap,they shoot good, and they killed many a bad guy for over 85 years. These old guns are perfect nightstand guns and ain't real hard to conceal carry. Holsters and speedloaders are easy to find.

Charlie, that's what I was wondering myself when I asked the question, and was sort of hoping to find out. I had looked at it at the shop Sunday, and noted it was a "no dash", and knew it wasn't a five screw, but I never think to look for a four. I just seldom see them.

I've already got a five screw M&P, and now I'll have this one. I told my wife I'll have to look for a three screw now.

When the K frames were given model numbers, they lost the upper sideplate screw, so (in theory) all guns stamped MOD 10 should be 4-screw frames. Now someone will post their MOD 10 5-screw photo .
