MODEL 10 SERIAL NUMBER

Hello. Just joined because I have a question about the Model 10 Smith & Wesson that belonged to my dad. Can anyone tell me the year this was made. C 453929. And I still have the original box. I don't think my dad shot much so is in very good condition. Inside cylinder says MOD-10 and some other numbers 2323 7 M 2 These are on there own on the side beside the cylinder.

Approx. 1960, and welcome to the forum.

If all it says is Mod 10 then you may have a no dash with that serial number. DWalt (one of our resident experts) stated the change over to Model 10 from .38 M&P occurred around C436xxx and C437xxx.

I know C4885xx ( a 6" barrel) shipped 9/60 and C5021xx shipped 4/60.

Welcome to the forum. I continue to search for my first Model 10 no dash.

luisoscar, your 10-5 looks to have been manufactured sometime between 1975-1976.

Just a guesstimate, but according to my database, your gun most likely shipped around April 1959. Pics would be nice, we like pics!
