Saw 3 13-3 3" RB at an auction preview today. All very, very good condition, one appeared unfired from the factory. Two wore Pachmayr grips and the last wore funky plastic imitation stag grips.

What might they be worth? If they go reasonable enough, I might buy them all and have sale or trade fodder.

All depends on the auction crowd. The 3 inch 13s are popular and we don't see them every day. I had one some years ago but my son decided he "needed" a house gun and that's where it went. I looked at one, also an auction preview, yesterday which was the first one I'd seen in quite awhile. Was ok, not perfect. Thought I'd try to buy it at $800 but doubt that that will get it done. If they're nice, anything under $900 is a deal and if you check the big auction sites you'll see where they've sold for hundreds more. Good luck.

My research indicates that the M13-3 was used by the FBI among other LE agencies. Is there a known serial number range for these?

I just checked my inventory. I bought my M-13 3" in 1990 and paid $300.00. I carried it a lot for a long time, not so much anymore. They are great revolvers and if I had to be limited to one gun I am pretty sure it would be my M-13. It was no problem to hit man sized IPSC targets at 100 yards. Now, I have to go dig it out and start carrying it again. $900 is steep but at today's prices I can see it.

Here in SE PA the 3" 13/65 we're bringing $800 or $900 before the virus and all the other recent insanity. I haven't seen any for sale locally in the last two years, but I would expect a 3" 13 to bring at least $1,100 retail. At an auction it could easily be more considering some of the rabid bidders I've encountered at the auctions in the past year. I'm glad I got mine a while ago, and I don't plan to let them go while I'm alive.

I consider the 3" K-frames to be the ideal carry revolver. It seems that many others are of the same opinion. I have 3" Models 13-4 and 10-8. I wouldn't sell either one at any price.
They are extremely popular and hard to come by. I think a price of $1000 is realistic.

These days, probably not less than $1000 for one in good condition and incorrect stocks. The better the condition and with original stocks, even more.

Today's market is tough to call........... even Local gun shops vary widely.

3" 13 in good to great condition..... you could see $800-1,200.

Auctions; like playing poker.... all it takes is one guy who really wants it and has deep pockets! Or an ambivalent crowd and it could go cheap!

At least you will have three chances!

Good luck

Bought my 13 just before Covid

A little rough but mechanically perfect. I paid $325 at my LGS. Tried several different grips on it. It's got Uncle Mike's on it now.

This thread makes me feel much better about my 3" model 13. Very good condition with original grips and very slight bluing loss on barrel only. I paid $ 650 a year ago.

I would put it in the $900-$1200 range. I sold a 13-3 with factory grips & a pair of Altamonts at the high end of this price range in order to offset the cost of my Yost 13-3.

Except for the fact that the fixed sights and my eyes have never been friends and with encroaching age even less so, I would agree on the utility of the 3" RB K frame being about as good as one can get.

Easy fix! Just join all of us and go shopping for a 3" M19 or M66! Report back on success.

Thank the Lord fixed sights still work for me or I'd be out of the 3" K frame game.

Not even close to a good use of money for me, so I'll leave that experience to others. And based on my LEOSA qual last week, the time of virtually exclusive use of red dots is getting closer.

You just need to grow your arms!

I can still read a newspaper held in my finger tips at maximum extension arms length, so I hope I have another decade with open sights.

Shooting a handgun with a red dot is like taking 30 years off, and incredibly easy and fast once you become accustomed to it. Unfortunately, red dot fit semis well and look ok, but not so much with revolvers, imo.
