Came across a Model 13-3 with 4" heavy barrel in a LGS today. It is blued and in great condition and doesn't appear to have been shot much and the price was right. It fit my hand and I couldn't seem to put it down so I bought it to go with my 686 plus. I'm waiting to get it on my permit. Does anyone have good or bad experience with this model?

I have a .357 Magnum M&P HB (a 13-2) and like it very much. Very similar to my Model 10-8. Both are good shooters.

I have a 13-3. It's a no-frills package with some nice wear on it. It's got a real good double-action trigger.

A couple of years ago, I was hot to sell off my last J frame. I did so at the local show. So walking around with $$$ in my pocket. Lying on the table in front of me was a super nice 13-2. Rumored to have had less than 1 box of .38's through it. No box, mine for $475 OTD. Never had any intentions of owning 1! It just feels so right. You should really enjoy shooting it. Congratulations! What the guys have already said, good shooters. I've had a 13-1 4" for about a year and I've been trying to wear it out. Running like a charm.

My 13-1 is one of my favorite guns to shoot, and - God forbid - if I ever got in a gun fight I would hope it was with me.

Bear in in mind that, like ALL K-frame .357's, you may crack the lower edge of the barrel (forcing cone) if you shoot very hot .357 ammo with 125 grain or lighter bullets. Haven't time to explain why now.
But stick to 158 grain bullets and don't let powder fouling accumulate in the forcing cone, raising pressures.
Fire Magnum ammo only some 10-15% of the time. Otherwise, your gun will develop cylinder endshake too soon. Full .357 ammo is not for routine range use. It is for killing things!

One of my friends gave me his a few years ago.I figured that there might have been something wrong with it.After a few K rounds through it,I'm still looking for what was wrong with it.Guess I'll have to conclude that he's a mighty good friend!

Thank you for the good advice. I've read about that. I only shoot 158 gr and I'll save the magnums for my 686 plus 3". I purchased some dies and I am going to reload some less than magnum 158 gr for the model 13 for shooting paper. I'm shooting with a friend that has been reloading for years and I am leaning on him for advice. I'm going to work up a load that is fun to shoot. I'm not interested in maximum speed and chamber pressure.

I bought a blue 3" M13-2 (I think) which I gifted to my then GF. They were FBI issue at the time & hard to come by. When we went our separate ways, she decined to sell it back to me. It was a nice piece & I miss it.
My duty gun at the time was a M66-1... which I still have.
