Since I'll probably never find one of the few .357 Model 10's I bought the next best thing. I'm partial to heavy barrel fixed sights so this is perfection to me. $495

These are great revolvers. I also like the model 65, which is the stainless version.

The Model 13 is sort of like the Model 10's teenage brother, "yeah, I'm tougher than you are big bro..." When, in fact, they are just about the same in capabilities. I used M10/M64s interchangeably with M13/M65s when I was instructing. Results with each were identical, which is to say excellent.

Nice to be able to chamber magnums but still a tried-and-true M10 at heart. Nice looking gun at a good price. You will enjoy it.

You never have to apologize for buying a Dick Special (politically incorrect nickname from the bad ol' 60's and 70's). That was my first revolver waaaaay back when. Nice to carry, fun to shoot, more delicate than a K-frame or a Security Six but very serviceable. Also had a 4"Diamondback, basically the DS frame with a 4' Python-style barrel. I used it on some Federal contracts where we were restricted to 4" 38 Specials and it always got lots of looks.

I wish i could find a 3in 13 rb here in Australia...never seen one so ive had to settle for a ex VICPOL 3in Model 10 rb!

25 or so years ago, I bought one of the returned NYSP 10-6 .357s from a LGS because of the collector interest. Took it out, shot it, liked it so well I went & bought a new 13-2, and retired the 10-6 to the safe. That M13, now with TH, .400" smooth trigger and an action job will be my until-my-last-day revolver. Hope you enjoy yours as much !

Welcome to the Forum.

There are a number of variables that will affect the selling price for your Model 13. What "dash" number is it? That is, is it a 13-1, or a 13-3, or a... If you open the cylinder and look in the recess just below the barrel, you'll find something stamped into the frame that says "Mod 13-__". That's the "dash number", and is very important for some folks.

Do you have the original factory box, grips, documents, and tools for your revolver? Again, this is hugely important for some people - generally collectors rather than those just wanting to use it (ie. "shooters").

I don't know if you realize that your Model 13 has a 3.0 inch long barrel. This particular revolver, along with its 3.0 inch long barrel was the last officially issued revolver by the FBI (ever watch the movie "The Silence of the Lambs"?) The Model 13 and its stainless steel version (Model 65) are no longer made by S&W, and they command a premium. They are very popular and sought out by buyers. By the way, I should mention that the Model 65 with 3.0 inch barrel was issued by the DEA.

If you provide responses to my questions, above, as well as add some better quality photos, it will be much easier to provide you with a sales price recommendation.

If you price it reasonably I have no doubt you will sell it quickly.
