In the late 1960s (?) I purchased a Heavy barrel Combat Masterpiece that was (?) a special run for a S&W Distributors. The Police Range received two. one blued and one nickeled. (I purchased the blued) These models came with TT,TH, and TS. I do not recall if the target sights were W/O rear and front sight color insert.
Where these "Dayton's" ?

Thought your post was interesting, so I looked.

According to the 4th edition:
A special order of 1040 with a 4 in heavy barrel on square butt N frame with red ramp shipped to Dayton police supply.
Serial number range:
K623337 to K624496
1965 production also.
