I am relatively new to this site and was looking for information on a Smith & Wesson model 14-4 that I placed on hold today. The revolver is in great condition and does not seemed to have been fired much at all. I think it was manufactured around 1979 and was wondering what a fair price would be. Any information about the revolver would be greatly appreciated.

I just bought an 8-3/8's 14-4 on Gunbroker a few weeks back, it was pretty much unfired with box paper and tools. Paid $599 and had been looking for quite some time. A lot of the long barreled ones were between $7-900 and I just couldn't bring myself to pay that much. Although when I finally got mine to the range I found it has an alignment issue and it's back in Springfield right now and it remains to be seen how much I'll have to pay for repair. If may not have been a good deal after all!
The 6" seem to be the most prevalent and are a little cheaper, in the $500 range around here.

Hard to tell from just the one picture, but based on your description of the condition probably somewhere between $400-500.

I bought a Model 14-3 with 6 inch barrel for $430 OTD that was like new. Congratulations on the purchase as yours looks like it's a real nice revolver.

I picked up my 14-4 today and have a few questions about some stamps on the grips. One of the stamps is a M in a circle and the other is a D in a triangle. On the opposite side of the grip is an A11, A13, and what looks like an A15. The serial numbers on the frame and the yoke? match. I am still new to this site and was wondering if I could get some help understanding these stamps.
