Bought a Model 14-5 from swbennyd, and picked it up at dealers today. I'm very happy with the gun, which came with box, tools, & papers. Thank you very much Ben.:D

I've been wanting a Model 14 with the full under lug for quite some time. Going to the range this evening to try it out with my target load consisting of 3.2 grains HP38 or W-W 231 and a 148 grain HBWC over a Rem. or W-W SP primer.

Good for you! I also have been wanting a 14-5 for awhile now, but you just don't see them. I actually know of an individual and member here who has two. I can only hope that one day he will let one go.

Went to the indoor range this evening. Shot at 22 feet, double action only.

First target was to get her dialed in. Second target shows the results. My first 3 shots on the target almost went into one hole. Neither my Cousin or I could believe it.:D

The gun is a keeper for sure.

Bill, it was good to see you Sunday.Nice hard to find gun, and as usual its very accurate. Looks like you found a good double action gun for the upcoming league. Did it come with the wood grips? Larry

No wood grips. It had Hogues on it, but as I dislike them, I put some Pachmayrs on. I have a pair of finger groove aftermarket stocks coming, but I just may send for another pair of Herrett's Jordan Troopers, which are my favorite for shooting.

I went to look for you after I shot my round of trap, but you were gone. Didn't stay long huh?

I know this is resurrecting a near 3-year dead zombie thread, but nobody seems interested in the new thread I started, so I'll try this one.

I was looking at one of these full underlug 6" model 14-5 revolvers the other day. The really odd thing about it was that it was a double action only.

Anybody know if any of them came from the factory that way or has some idiot bubba done almost irreparable damage to a rare revolver?

Not aware of any factory DAO versions, but that doesn't mean none exist. On the other hand, maybe the modification was made by someone who likes to shoot Double Action (the only way IMO :) ) and not a bubba thing.... Nothing irreparable, just replace the part that was modified.

Or, even better, simply shoot it double action and enjoy it.

Probably a PPC shooter. The gun and DAO both fit the description.
Qc

What would such a modification do to the value of the gun though?
I thought I read somewhere on here that there were only 2000 of these made.

Wouldn't modifying it to DAO really kill the value?

Nope, cause it's easily restored. ;)

Nobody interested in taking a stab at value?

I could only find one like it that sold on GB to compare, and it was missing its rear sight but it still went for just under $600.

Does that sound about right?

About a year ago a bunch of full underlug model 14s were sold from FL DOC surplus in the $500 range. Since that supply has dried up I'd guess a little higher for a 90% gun, $550-600.

Picked up a clean 6" Model 14-6 last year for around $500 with a rack number stamp, unbelievable action tops of all my shooters !
