Hey guys,

I recently bought a model 14 no-dash, and took it out shooting last weekend. I love the gun, and it is accurate, but the sights are really hard to see for me. I was wondering, is it possible to buy replacement sights, either front, rear, or both to make them a little more visible? My newer smiths have the white outline, red ramp sights that are easy to see, I was just wondering if there is anything I could do. Even just a white outline on the rear sight would be much easier for me to see. Thanks in advance.

You can order the WO rear sight from S&W 1-800-331-0852 M-F 8am-5pm est.

You can dab a bit of day-glo orange hobby paint on the rear face of the front blade, but put a spot of white paint on first for a base, and let it dry. Then apply the orange. That will make the orange really pop.

The sights on your 14 are designed to make the all black sights stand out against white or off white targets more easily (since the gun is a target gun), while providing a clear sight picture since the blades (front and rear) are at right angles to the target and reduce or eliminate glare.

However, I am like you and much prefer the RR wo set-up that is used on so many of their guns-even for target work.:)

Gun 4 Fun,

Thanks for the help. I had no idea the WO sight was available through S&W! I was shooting black target (shoot-n-see), so that's probably why I couldn't see my sights!
