Hi guys

Just having an issue with my Model 15-2 that has only recently come to my attention. Due to Covid-19, have been unable to get my revolver to my gunsmith.

The cylinder of my 15-2 will not turn when it hits a certain chamber. It will rotate at every other chamber apart from this one particularly one. When you get to this chamber, you can still dryfire the trigger etc however the cylinder remains stuck in place and will not advance to the next chamber.

Any ideas on what could cause this? The ejector rod looks fine and isn't bent. I measured all the teeth on the extractor star (the teeth that the hand corresponds to) and they are all the same.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Assuming there's no wear at the indexing notches, the gun needs a new and tuned cylinder advance. I think that part is called a "dog." It's a relatively simple repair for a gunsmith/armorer.

That part is called a "hand". If it's working for all but one, it's probably something else. Can you take a pic of the back of the cylinder straight on, and one with the hand up like the last one, but from the side so we can see how far the nose of the hand sticks out from the recoil shield?

I see one of the Extractor pins protruding very far beyond the star, between two teeth. I am betting that is the trouble. That will be very apparent in pic two in the first batch of pics

^^^This. It looks like the pin is interfering w/ the hand.

I pushed the pin back down and the cylinder works probably again. Great work guys. I really appreciate your assistance.

So what is going to be my long-term solution with this pin? I imagine that it is likely to push out again. I'd hate for this to happen when the gun is needed the most. Replace the pin? Loc-tite it in?
