I was given a 38 special by my father in law. It was my wife's grandpa's. Can someone track down the manufacture date? Serial K671XXX. Model 15-2. 2 inch barrel.

Welcome aboard! K671xxx is shown in SCSW (Standard Catalog of S&W) as produced in 1966. A 2" Model 15? Wow! I know someone who would love to have a snub 15. He looks at me in the mirror when I shave. Wait 'til he hears what you have. He'll be envious.

Your gun was made in what I consider a good period for S&W mfg. Modern, yet assembled with old-time care. Enjoy.

Kaaskop, Thanks for all the information! It's my second S&W. I bought my first gun a couple months ago. It's a 9mm M&P Shield. I have enjoyed shooting and learning with it. However, there is something about the look and feel about this 15-2 revolver that is just really cool. I can't wait to take it to the range.

houstonwatch, consider yourself extremely lucky to inheriet such a fine piece as the one you have here. nothin better than it being given to you. and yes treat it with care, cherish it, and turn it into a family heirloom. ive had two just like this one one blue one nickel -3 & -4 sold the blue to get the nickel wished id kept the blue one.
