Saw a Model 15-2 with a 2 inch barrel in nickel at the LGS. Condition is about 95+%. The action locks up like a bank vault. I know they aren't real common in 2 inch, but what is a guesstimate on the value. They are asking $450 for it.

I was looking for 1 for a while. No luck! So, I finally gave in and bought a 10-5 RB snub. Really like it. At the last gun show I bought a 66-2, 2.5".
Anyway, I would be an instant buyer on the gun as you have described. They don't grow on trees! Bob

72b40, do you own and shoot a 15-2 snub? You might want to try one. It's a 2" barreled gun that thinks it is a target pistol. Here's my 15-2 entry in our own Internet Snubby Match. That's two hands at 50 feet. .38 Special is by no means dead yet.

Do you really want a 38? Given the choice between a model 19 and Model 15 in the exact same condition which one would you choose? For most of us it would certainly be the Model 19 or maybe a Model 65.

I honestly don't follow this reasoning at all. When it comes down to brass tacks, I do at least 90% of my shooting in my Models 27, 28 and 19 with .38 Special ammo, not with magnums. Not to mention that I own at least a couple dozen revolvers chambered for the .38 Special and they go out shooting with me more often than any of my magnums.

I don't think my practices, as noted above, are unusual among S&W shooters. In my experience many others do the same thing.

Besides, the Combat Masterpiece with either the 4" or the 2" barrel is a hoot to own and shoot. I love them both and lots of other men and women do also. $450 for a 2" CM, especially the -2 variant, is an excellent buy.

Stu1Ritter, I have to ask about the grips on your Mod 15.
They are very nice and would love to have a set for my Mod 19.
Who made or retails them? I don't have a mod 15 as yet but
tomorrow is a new day.

sholsclaw, the grips are Herrett's Ropers. I had wanted Troopers but the folks at Herrett's told me my hands weren't big enough for the Trooper (Bill Jordan had humongous hands).

AJ, it is one of the nicest feeling and shooting snubs out there. I have a 19-3 snub and I prefer shooting the 15-2. Actually I have about a dozen snubs and the 15-2 is my favorite.

Stu,

I like snub nosed revolvers. Have had several over the years, Colt Cobras & Det. Specials, S&W 19, a 66and a 325. Now I have a 342, a 36,and a M27-2 3.5 inch. The M27 will sort of on the large size to be called a snub, but it is still my favorite.
