I am getting back into the S&W revolvers so this is one of my first posts. I have a Model 15-2 4 inch that is really in good shape. I am thinking of selling the weapon, but am not sure what to ask. I own this because I was a small arms instructor in the Air Force in the 70's and this was our sidearm. Anyway, help in knowing what its worth would be great. Thanks.

Just wondering, you say you are getting into S&W revolvers but you might want to sell the M15 that you had while in the AF, why? Wanting something else?
Different strokes for different folks I guess but if I had it since the 70s and it went through the service with me I'd keep it.
Once it's gone...

We love pictures and the Model 15 is a favorite up here especially with Air Force folks. The value varies by location and then it's mostly based on condition, extras like box, tool kit, paper work, and the correct grips so it's very hard to tell you what it's worth without pictures and more information.

If it is one of the AF marked Model 15's it is worth a little more I believe. I remember when a buddy carried one working for the DOD police. When they switched to Berettas he wasn't allowed to buy his Model 15. I think most of them were destroyed. I seem to remember it having a target trigger which I found strange.

If it is USAF marked and authenticated it will probably bring triple what a civilian gun will bring. I have seen some sell in the $1500-$2000 range. USAF guns are scarce as they didn't seem to be released to the public as surplus and many were destroyed.
