No pics,a friend has a 15 3 blued four inch.Says it is very near mint to mint condition.Somebody put white inlay in the smith Wesson on barrel.What is it worth no box,tools or anything.He is always to high on his stuff lol.Thanks in advance.

Without any photos, it's difficult to assign value. And, especially difficult with the crazy range of prices these days. But it is fair to say that the Model 15-3 is a desirable revolver. Some of the experts will chime in with values. $550 - 600?
I sold a 15-3 nickel a few months ago excellent w/o box for $500 and it had been to several gun shows prior with little interest. The problem is with just a little more $, you can get a 19 in 357 mag.
In my area that would be a $500 revolver. Beater quality .38 Special K-Frame's at the local pawn shops are that much. . Sincerely. bruce
I have a couple of 15-3s that I purchased a couple of years ago, one very nice, the other more of a shooter. I think I gave $300 for the nice one and $375 for the shooter, go figure. I think in 2020 everybody added $200 to everything.

$500-$600 is a reasonable price nowadays.
Hope I'm not hijacking this thread... I was just looking at a 15-3 that is for sale on a website/brick and mortar store. It is in excellent condition and a DC police trade in. But the asking price is about $1,000. Is that way over priced or is the marked history of the gun just add that much value ?

That would be very overpriced in the Midwest, or online. "As-New", meaning no signs of being fired, original stocks, box, examples may sell for close to or even over $1K in online auction, but not a former duty gun.
A nice example with almost no turn line and no nicks or scratches law enforcement stamp on the left side, and rubber grips sold here for around $500~550.
A used but almost mint 15-2 with nice Magna stocks just sold on GB for $800.
I gave less than $300.00 each for my pair off GB plus ship and transfer so less than $350.00. That was several years ago and they are less than mint. I think good shooters 85% or so with good internals are probably worth 5 to 6 hundred and mint should bring more. The buyer will be the one to set the price..................

There is a reason LE trade in guns are inexpensive... Although most all LE revolvers have long ago been traded, my local cop shop still has an occasional few revolvers in expected condition that don't sell very quick in the $249 and up range. They also sell LE Glocks and Sigs. Other then curiosity, few seem to care where a LE gun came from and unless it can be tied into a famous case, there is no extra value there.
