I want to buy a model 15 like I carried in the USAF way back
in another life.

I carried one from 1972 until they were replaced by the M9
in 1985. We got it in 1986.

Would a M15-4, serial # 23K67XX be from that time period?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I really don't want to buy a new classic M15 as they're not
the same, with that ejector shroud and lock hole.

Thank You!

That serial # is from 1977, the "-4" was produced '77-'82. Sounds like it fits the bill, good for you!

+1 on what he said as a 15-3 or 14-4 was probably what you carried depending on when good old Uncle Sam bought them.

I worked as a CATM troop form 1984-92. I can still remember my M-15 serial number. K747471. According to the SCSW the AF bought lots of -1's through -3's. No mention of dash 4's. What I do remember is that every M-15 I handled back then had a K prefix with no numbers before the K. Hope this helps.
