Hi everyone, long time reader, long time Smith and Wesson collector, finally decided to join up.

I've got a new to me model 15 that shoots consistently left. I've got the rear sight blade cranked as far over as it can go and it still will not shoot center at 10 yards. It's about 2 inches off. I've shot the handgun off of a rest more than once and it produces a 1 inch group off to the left of the POA.

My load is a 140 grain truncated cone flat point from missouri bullet on top of a mid range charge of 231. I've heard told these guns were zeroed with 158 grain bullets in mind, but I've never experienced bullet weight shifting POI left and right, usually only up and down.

Any advice on this? I'm considering a new rear sight blade or emailing S&W and asking what their thoughts are.

I'm just a shooter, not a gunsmith, but the first thing I would do is get out a level and a square, and see how straight the barrel and frame are, and see if the front sight is straight up and down.
I did a quick check on a colt SA for a friend and discovered nothing on it was straight, and pro help was needed, although it looked fine to him when he bought it at the gun show.

I have related this story previously, but it bears repeating.
A buddy of mine purchased a new 15, soon after coming home from Nam, he said he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn even if he was standing inside. Twenty years later, he and I shot a lot together, he asked me it I would give it a try. I picked it up and immediately saw that the barrel was canted. I told him to send it back with his explanation. He did, they corrected it and is now a tack driver.

Had a used anaconda doing the same thing.Laying a straight edge alongside the frame it was obvious the barrel pointed left.Colt fixed it on their dime

Have you had someone else shoot it to see if they get the same result?

Moved over as far to the right as possible. My father shot it to similar result.

I emailed Smith and Wesson last night and they've already sent me a free shipping label for service. Ill just have it back to them and see what they come up with.

Thank you everyone!
