Model 17-2

Took my 17-2 to the range last week, worked fine on single action, double action had numerious light primer strikes. 4 out of every cyclinder. Gun worked perfect the last time i shot it.Could this be the double action sear? Can I fix it.

More likely main spring tension is weak. Someone may have changed the main spring or trigger return spring, or both. They also may have backed out the main spring tension screw on the base of the grip frame. Check that first.

This is almost always a case of a loose strain screw. Make sure it is fully tightened- in some guns, I have seen as little as a 1/2 turn from fully snug result in light strikes.
A trick to diagnose ( some people find used guns that someone has shortened the strain screw on) take a fired small pistol primer, take out the anvil. Sandwich it between the tip of the strain screw and the mainspring. If the light strikes resolve, you know it is a too short strain screw. Usually they are just loose, but I imagine one could wear to the point of inadequate contact
