Model 17-5 changes

What is different between a 17-4 and a 17-5 ? I see the -5 does not have the barrel pin, was that the only difference ?

My 17-5 has a heavier barrel.

My 17-4 does not have a pinned barrel. I purchased a 4" full lug barrel and replaced the 6" standard barrel. The -5's also came with combat grips.

There are K frame -4 revisions with or without the barrel pin. It wasn't the cause of the revision change.
