Local shop has one of these. Great condition. Minor buggered side plate screw or two. Minor handling marks. It has the nickel frame with the blued cylinder, and blued barrel.

Shop asking $995. No box, tools, or S&W paperwork.

Always wanted a Pinto. Is this in the ballpark price wise? (CA resident, unfortunately)

Hard to say without pics and not knowing if factory pinto or not.. I would see if I could get it down to 800-850 and then buy it.

I don't know how to post photos through the "hosting website" process. I'm happy to send one to you if you want to see it. Either an email or cell phone is fine. P.M. me if you want and I'll send it. Just sent my email and cell contact info.

Is it a legit pinto or somebody may have swapped out the cylinder and barrel.

My local shop here in Central Virginia has a blue 19-3, 4" in the case, tagged at $999.99. It's a REALLY nice 19-3 and I didn't notice if it had the box and papers or not. The $999.99 stopped me in my tracks. On the other hand, I just paid more than that for a really nice Model 18-2. It was something I really wanted.

A 2.5" Pinto in California? No idea, but it doesn't seem too far out of line to me these days.

At that price it's probably not factory? (Needs a letter) but if you like it it's not bad if it wasn't over polished

Without a letter it's difficult to say. It does look factory. The nickel frame and blued cylinder and barrel are not as common but they were made. The story on Pintos is they were built to use up part overruns.
Pintos and reverse pintos.

A gunsmith can build one as all they need is parts. Like a Colt Python Pinto for example.
