Does anyone know about the thickness on top of this model 19, can it come off & does anyone know the manufacturer date. K990xxx. Thanks.

I can't tell about the sight rib.....I believe it was Bo-Mar that used to make a rib called a "cover-up" which installed over the existing sights. I'm not sure if that's what is on it or not. Perhaps you could post some additional photos.

Someone has installed am after market sight rib, even if it can be removed, the revolver has little collectors value, do to that. Yet if everything else is in good working order this should make a nice carry/range revolver. At $500.00 I don't see how you can get hurt.

Thanks guys. The gun is mechanically perfect & riffling better than any smith & wesson ive ever bought

I have seen plenty of Cops Guns without Department markings. I have also seen many LEO's who back in the day were allowed to carry personal side arms - my Dad included. He was a Federal Agent and carried a personal side arm 95% of the time. One reason for his doing so is when working undercover he never wanted to be "made" as a Fed by carrying a gun Feds. were known to carry.
