Good evening y'all. I'm inquiring about a serial number for a snub nosed 19-3 I'm looking at. All the current owner will let me know is the 8Kxxxx.

Can anyone help me with its DOB?

Thank you so much! Looking to add my first snub to the family.

Jared from Kansas.

All the 8K prefix guns seem to be from 1978. Please let us know the whole SN along with some photos after you buy it ;).

Will do! Thank you for the quick response. I sure feel like "one of the guys" now that I own a few Smiths. It's a P&R gun that seems to be flawless, just no box or papers. Is it worth a $900 price tag?

Jared

I think the price puts it into the "high but don't have to feel guilty about paying that much" category. It also depends on from where you are buying it (i.e., state laws) and if there are others available to you. Good luck in your decision.

Auto correct spelling is also a bear :).

Yes it is, out bowling and trying to justify the purchase haha.

I'm in KS and I've been browsing and cruising for what seems like months... I figured they would be 800 plus

The 8K prefixes were used over a three year period - 1975 through 1977. If it really has only four digits after the K, then it comes from 1975 (manufacture; shipment could have been later).

Thanks jack for your service first of all and informational response also!
And to the second reply, it iS nickel....

I definitely have the fever but not sure how much:)

Jared

A lot depends on where you are. $900 for a nice nickle 19-3 is a fair price here in California.
