Model 19-3 ?

I was looking over a M19-3 6" that I have owned for several years and had a question about the ramp front sight with red insert. Curious if this could be factory or installed by someone else. It came with the 3 T's and one of the smoothest trigger of all my Smiths. School me again.

The Model 19-3 with a 6-inch barrel could have been manufactured with a red ramp front sight blade. The blade is secured to the ramp base with a single pin. The blade can easily be replaced by removing the pin, the blade, installing a new blade of a different type, and replacing the pin. Is the pin polished flush to ramp base or does it protrude slightly on both sides? If it is the latter, the red ramp is most likely a replacement for the original Patridge blade that was common on the 19-3 with a 6-inch barrel.

Most likely a Patridge front sight is original to the revolver, but it may have been replaced prior to shipment. If not, it is likely S&W made the change if it was done aftermarket.

My six inch 19-3 has the Partridge front sight that appears to have been factory installed.

Thanks for the info. Whoever did the install, they did a very nice job, no marks of any kind around the pin.
