I am a newby...just bought a 357-mdl 19-4 any suggestions on ammo...grain, etc???

First of all, welcome to the forum.
You have obtained one of the absolute classic S&W revolvers. Shoot 90% .38 Specials of your choice. 10% .357 mags with 158 grn bullets.

Avoid the 110 and 125 hot loads, keep it clean, and you, your kids, and grand kids will enjoy that gun for years.

I'm reloading. I shoot a lot of lead round nose 125 gr with 3.4 gr Bullseye. Light .38s are a lot of fun. 158 gr .357s are nice now and then to wake up the beast, but the .38s are the ticket for a few hundred rounds at the range.

So where are your pictures?

I find that 38 special, 148 grain wadcutters are just fine for target shooting with any 38/357 revolver. A few rounds of hotter ammo once in a while don't hurt of course, but I don't see much reason for more flash and bang than necessary.
