I came across a used Model 19-6 yesterday at a pawn shop. They are asking $499, but he said he would let it go for $405. Is that a good price? The gun has some holster wear and the barrel looks pretty good.

Which barrel length? How'd the revolver do with function checks? Is it mechanically in spec?
Lotta people'll be happy to spend your money for you and say that's a good price, buy it now, etc., but without more information about the revolver and its condition, neither you know we can know if it's a good deal.

It's about a 4" barrel. the cylinder was tight, it wasn't loose at all. I cocked the hammer back and tried push it with my thumb and it wouldn't fire. I checked the rifling in the barrel, it looked good. I don't know anymore to check for. What am I not doing to check this gun?

NRA Museums:
Any generation Model 19, any size, if it passes function and spec checks and is an NRA Modern Gun Condition Standards "very good" or better, is a terrific price at $405.

Go to GB to do some comparative shopping and I think it would be considered a very good deal although without a photo it is hard to say but you just don't get much in a model 19 4" for under $500 unless it is a real beater at least on GB anyway. Carry On
