Hi :

I acquired a model 19-3 Texas Ranger 4" bbl.

The pistol appears unfired. However, the muzzle end has several shallow cracks on the lower portion. They are on the outer portion of the crown. They are very tiny, but I can see and feel them.

They are on the bottom and not near the muzzle.

Has anyone seen this before ?

Thanks :

seems a bit "odd" doubt if they are truly 'cracks", would have to really "see" just what they look like.......could be 'dings or divots', maybe machine, cut off tool marks?? heck even a bit of lead splatter for that matter....got any real 'close up ' pictures? or have you look at them under a 'glass"??
the 'other' end we can understand and have seen, but not "up front".........
If the gun is "new, unfired" would be tough to get repaired as they been out of 4 inch model 19 barrels for some time........

Hard to see but, looks like just dings to me. That would be no big deal.

Welcome.

yessir, dings and divots.......can be carefully 'recut' and touched up, but a hot blue would be better and longer lasting.

hard to say what caused them, if it was 'shot', most likely recoiled and came down on a sharp ,hard surface..... or could have been dropped, we'll never know and she ain't talking.......

Thamks for the replys, it shoots fine and is as accurate as I am, so I will leave it as is.
