Why are you still posting about these guns ? Get back there and buy them both, that's a helluva good price !

I am kind of slow but I did go back for the Model 19-3, nickel plated. It is sn#9K178XX. I cleaned up very nicely. It has the Pachmar grips. The pawn shop had some scratch off cards and the one I got gave me a $25 discount so I brought the revolver home for $312 OTD.

Congrats on a great deal and a lucky scratch off.:) Was the blue one still there? I know a shop that had some k frame targets for $25. They may still be there, give me a call if you need the number brother.

ps How about a pic?

Rick, The blued one is still there. This one has a plain nickel front sight and no outline on the blued rear sight.

I traded a guy i work with a beretta 92fs fora shooter grade model 19-2 earlier this year, i love it.

what are you waiting for? BUY THEM BOTH. a nice nickel 19? i will buy that and you will make some money.

Good deal, I am glad you got the one you wanted, you were lucky,
the guns were still there. I learned the hard way a long time ago that when you have the gun in your hand, if you are thinking hard about buying it, you better buy it right then because there is a good chance that it will be gone if you wait a day or two thinking about it. You need to give yourself a crash course in at least the guns that you are interested in, get real world prices, not just what the Blue Book says. Always consider condition, alterations, factory or aftermarket grips, and tax in your evaluation. Do not be afraid to ask the shop for an "out the door cash price" for the gun. If you have a Concealed Carry Permit, let them know, the shops like Concealed Carry buyers because it is easier for them, no telephone call, at least it is that way in Texas. Some of the S&W revolvers that I bought this year, for example are:

S&W Model 66-1 4" Bbl. S.S. excellent 400.00
S&W Model 66-2 2.5" Bbl. S.S excellent 300.00
S&W Model 60 2" Bbl. S.S. excellent 300.00
S&W Model 27-2 6" Bbl. Nickel excellent 525.00
S&W Model 27-2 3.5" Bbl. Blue excellent 700.00
S&W Model 27-2 3.5" Bbl. Nickel excellent 700.00
S&W Model 28-2 6" Bbl. Blue excellent 369.00
S&W Model 686 4" Bbl. S.S. excellent 300.00

What I like and what I pay may or may not be for everbody, it works for me and I am happy with my decisions. You just have to get out in the world and look, go to gun shows, check internet classified boards, go to gun shops, etc. Just do it....

I am new to the forum, I am an owner of a Model #19, 6 inch barrel, bought it brand new I beleive in the 70's, mint condition less than 100 rounds fired. Just wondering if anyone can tell me when it was manufactured? and what it is worth? serial number if corrected is located #19891.

Good for you! That's quite a bargain!

Welcome to the Forum. Please look on the bottom of the grip frame (you may need to remove the stocks) or on the frame under the barrel with the cylinder out. You will see a longer sequence of numbers with the letter K; if you can provide that we can let you know when it was shipped.

Samandglove1, I am always being surprised by some peoples "asking" prices. You are going to hate me, but a couple of years ago I bought another 28-2 357, 6" barrel, "S" serial number, like new condition, with pachmeyer grips for their asking price of 210.00 from an individual, no tax. Serial number dates the gun to 67-68 per Smith and Wesson. A few months ago a dealer said that he would take 300.00 out the door price for
a 99% Colt Detective Special, blue w/ original wood grips, how could I turn that down? The 300.00 686 357 I found on a local fishing forum's classified section, The title was "S&W 357 Magnum For Sale", he had several pictures and I recognized it as a 686 4" revolver. The ad had not been up very long, I called him and bought the gun that night. I enjoy the hunt for guns of all type, rifles, shotguns, semi-auto and revolvers.
Let's don't start talking about accessories, I found a almost new WW2 1911A1 leather holster in a pawn shop for not much money at all, also found an average condition 1911A1 leather holster at a garage sale. Oh, I bought a Winchester Hi Wall rifle, octagon barrel, single set trigger, tang mounted rear sight, two position front sight, all original for 500.00 from the same person who sold me the 210.00 28-2. He said that they could not find the Winchester in the Blue Book of gun values and so they put 500.00 as the price. It was in the Blue Book, they just did not know where to look....
